Alkermes is a sweet and spicy liqueur with an intense aroma obtained from an infusion of cinnamon, cloves, coriander, anise flowers, vanilla and rose water. It owes its name to the Arabic term al-qirmiz, which means cochineal and which indicates the intense red colour of the product. Alkermes to be used in confectionery, such as in the preparation of creams and sponge cake.
